Aspect Ratio Guide

Trailer end card aspect ratios

Trailers, teasers, and promo spots require specific video dimensions matching theatrical DCP masters or web delivery targets:

Standard Video Target

16:9 (1.78:1)

1920×1080 / 3840×2160

Standard broadcast, streaming television, YouTube theatrical trailers, and web promos. Universal safe zones apply.

Theatrical Flat Target

1.85:1 (Flat)

1998×1080 / 3996×2160

Theatrical Flat cinema DCP specification. Tighter vertical margins require refined typography hierarchy.

Theatrical Scope Target

2.39:1 (Scope)

2048×858 / 4096×1716

Anamorphic Scope cinema delivery. Ultra-widescreen field ideal for horizontal credit spans and wide sponsor lockups.

What goes on a movie trailer end card?

An end card is the concluding 3–6 second graphic of a trailer, establishing release information and primary talent billing:

1. Title Treatment

The prominent film logo or stylized title lockup, positioned above or centered over credit lines.

2. Release Date & Callout

"In Theaters November 14", "Streaming Exclusively", or "This Fall in IMAX" callout banner.

3. Compact Billing Block

Key creative credits (director, producers, writer, lead cast, composer) arranged horizontally across 2–4 lines.

4. Sponsor & Format Logos

Dolby Atmos, IMAX, studio bug, rating advice ("This Film Is Not Yet Rated"), and website URL.

Bringing your trailer end card into your editing software

Adobe Premiere Pro

Import the PNG into your project bin. Place it on video track V2 or V3 above your trailer footage, set blend mode to Normal, and apply a 12-frame dip-to-black or cross-dissolve transition.

DaVinci Resolve

Drop the exported graphic onto your Edit timeline. Straight alpha channel transparency is automatically recognized. Add keyframe dissolves or motion blur zooms in the Inspector.

Avid Media Composer / FCP

Link with AMA or import directly with "Invert Alpha" if required by your Avid project settings. Position the graphic seamlessly across your 4K timeline.
